Family Night!!!

Monday nights have become one of my favorite parts of the week. First of all, Monday is over. What else could you ask for? Second, FHE is always an experience. Since I know you all love hearing about my crazy Family Night experiences, I figure I'll blog it out and tell one or two other amusing stories while I'm at it.

On St. Patricks Day we just played games. This happens quite often in my family. We're a pretty casual group and usually planning is not our strong point. So, we played a name game where everyone writes their name, puts the paper in a hat, and then picks another name. Whatever name you pick is the name you go by for the game. Then, you sit in a circle and try to get 4 team members in 4 specific seats (our goal was the couch). There is one empty seat in the circle and whoever is the the left of the spot calls a name and whoever they call has to get up and go to that seat and that continues until you get your team members in their desired seats. After that, we played Mafia. It was fun. After that, we ate shamrock cookies with green frosting.

Last week we went to our Bishop's house with another group where we ate dinner and then talked and played games. For that party we played "Do You Love Your Neighbor?". It's kind of a knock off of fruit basket upset. I ran into Kenny and still have a huge bruise on my knee from that collision.

Today we are going to be playing "outside games" as Kenny put it, with another family. It will be interesting. It's really cold outside and it snowed yesterday, so we'll see how long we last running around outside.

For today's funny story, I'm giving you a taste of how easily amused college students really are (photographs included):

Once upon a Sunday afternoon, my roommate Anne and I decided to give our other roommate some peace while she did her Visit Teaching and Anne suggested that we go outside and blow bubbles until we get cold. I like bubbles, so I agreed!

(Anne)

Well, we went out and started blowing bubbles and we noticed that they were really cool colors, especially when you look at them against the snow or the trees.

We also noticed that they tended to float upwards, and we thought that was cool. Well, apparently the people on the third floor thought it was cool too. They came outside and started trying to pop our bubbles. Then more and more people came out, all because they saw our bubbles. Eventually we had a good 20 people outside. Probably 5 people had bubbles and we basically had an impromptu bubble party! Yup, that's right. About 20 people, out, in the cold, to blow/pop bubbles.

And there we all are. No one from my floor joined in. But that's ok. We like the third floor, even though they're in the other ward. So, that's the story of how a bunch of college students ended up having a bubble party. THE END! (More evidence of our simplemindedness to come at a later date. For now, just enjoy some more pictures...further evidence that we are much too fascinated with bubbles for our own good.)

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Family!
I hope you all had a wonderful day. Lets see some Easter pictures! I might even put some up tonight after I take a few. I'm singing in church with some friends in my ward today, then Rebecca and I are making cresant sandwiches, oatmeal rolls, macaroni salad, and whatever else we can think of for our college Easter feast. Last night i colored eggs with some boys in my ward, and they were really pretty (the eggs, not the boys) but sadly I had only boiled them about half as long as I needed to, so I couldn't eat them. There was also a ward talent show last night, and my room mate and I did a hand puppet musical to some japanese tango. I had planned on singing, but I have been too involved in my research paper this week to prepare anything. Good thing I'll have my chance to sing in church today :)
I love you!

...and a Steamy 55 Degrees!

Hey, Family! I figured I had a few minutes to spare to give a short update on my life. I'm still chilling down here in Provo, but there are only 6 weeks left of classes (not that we're counting or anything), and then finals and I get to go home! Going home will involve my fourth drive across the country in two years, but it'll be worth it. I'm anticipating a good summer and I even think I know where I'll be working. I'm in the process of getting an internship with the Audubon Naturalist Society being an assistant teacher at their summer camps. It's basically a bunch of nature camps in Chevy Chase, MD. I'm pretty sure that I'll get the internship and I have a phone interview set up for next Wednesday! *fingers crossed*

Tonight Meagan and I are going to "An Evening of Concertos". Our friends Ashley and Nicole won a concerto competition earlier this year so they get to play their concerto in the concert! It'll be really fun.

Spring is in the air and everyone is loving it. It'll probably snow this weekend, but we'll take what we can get. Last night for F.H.E. we made paper airplanes out of giant sketch paper and raced them. Mine WON! It was really fun. Then we went on campus trying to find a higher place to throw them from. We settled on the R.B. stairs and my team still won. Then, we played a version of Ultimate Frisbee, except with the paper airplane. Good times.

Well, I have to run and give Meagan her ticket before I go to my classes. I love you guys! Keep blogging!

The exciting life of Meagan

I've been waiting to hear for sure about this so that I would have something good to write, so here is it!
I'm singing in the Saturday Afternoon session of General Conference! I've known for a while that the BYU choirs were singing then, but since there are so many of us, women's and men's chorus had to make some cuts. Monday night I found out that I made the list, and I'm so excited! We figured that they would make the list by seniority, but it turns out that wasn't the case. I don't really know how they picked us, but apparently I have what it takes :)
Also in the news is my countdown to Jerusalem... we're down to 55 days! Last weekend I got my schedule in the mail, so I know every day until the end of this semester exactly where I will be in 2 months. Its very exciting.
This weekend I'm flying home for my friend Nicole's wedding. She's having an orthodox jewish ceremony, and she asked me to be a bridesmaid. So, I get some kind of a spring break to speak of. More than the rest of BYU anyway. I'm excited to be home for a couple days.
That's all for now. I'll let you know next time something exciting happens. Love you!

Sarah Joins family blog!

Greetings from Arizona!
Now that I've finally figured out how to use this thing, and have some time to breathe (a rare occurence this semester) I thought I would give you all an update on my life.
Past year has been chock full of classes and extra-curriculars. Last semester I got to be in an original play, written by our director, called "A Cry For Love." It was an experience, original script, music, and choreography. All were rewritten very often. We competed to got to California in the regional drama festival, but sadly the show didn't make it. We the actors got to go though. Which brings us to what i call "Sarah's stressful months of traveling and sickness", which some of you might know as January.
After getting home from break, I got to spend a week in school, then choir went down to Mexico. Yeah, 12 hours on a bus; not a nice bus. A school bus. Then despite everyone's warnings, I drank the water (i was sick of soda) and was sick on the 12 hour drive home. After this I got another week in school, then the Theater department went to LA. It was an adventure, filled with workshops, watching other people perform and auditioning for schools and companys. I got an offer from a nice one in california, but have decided to stay in Arizona to finish my degrees before I consider transfering.
After getting home from school, I got a weekend and one day of classes before leaving with the Music Department on our highschool recruiting tour for four days. And again, I got very sick on the way home. Apparently traveling and I don't go very well together.
Anyway, I'm now just in classes; 25 credits, and two plays, both of which i have a lead in. (Finally)There we go. My first blog.
(P.S. Sorry i don't have any cool videos or pictures like the other blogs. If anyone has too much of a problem with this, they should talk to my dad about giving me a digital camera :))

me on youtube!

so i am on youtube. i have three vids on there and if you want to chekum out just type in dainknudson just like that and you will get my vids.

Happy Month-of-MARCH, KnudsonFam!!! Here in Provo, our temperatures are in the 40s and we're absolutely loving it. Pathetic, I know. My roommate called me a wimp yesterday because I wore a light jacket to class instead of just a short sleeved shirt like her. IT WAS ONLY 45 DEGREES!! Anyway, we're pretty excited about the sunshine and the coming spring. Laura and I are especially excited because at some point we're going to trek up to Salt Lake to see all the flowers that we planted back in October!

Well, have a wonderful Saturday, everyone! I am going to spend the next 2.5 hours being tested on the thoroughness of my knowledge of the Koran, the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Enlightenment, Shakespeare, Levinas, Virginia Woolfe, Petrarch, Machiavelli, and Moliere. JOY! After that, I plan on having carpal tunnel for the rest of the day and attending a volleyball game tonight.
