Big News!

Hi Family!
This is my official unofficial announcement that I am officially going to the Jerusalem Center for spring term 2008! Let me know if that confuses anyone. It's unofficial because I haven't been officially notified yet, but I noticed that they deposited my application fee, and that means they wont be giving my check back, which is what they do when you don't get in. I just had to share that, since I really needed some good news today. I was in a bad mood because the bookstore only gave me $11 for my textbooks this morning. Hope you are all having a wonderful day!

Classes are done and it's time for finals week! I thought I would post the first snow pictures of the year. I have better pictures of provo life, but they are sadly stuck on my currently dead computer.


First, the amazing abominable snowman on campus. I don't know who didn't sleep on sunday night, but they sure succeeded in making people smile for a couple days. Some of you will know about the immodest Indian outside the Library. Freshman will often decorate it with signs that say something to the effect of "thats against the honor code!" But this time, someone just decided to cover him up! A couple of days later, he was painted blue and green.






Here is the picture I took from the top of the JFSB. I wanted to go out on the patio, but it was locked. Probably because there are people like me who would still go up there when its covered in snow.








And here is the amazing apple pie that I made from scratch. I might just make one for Christmas if you are really lucky.

Hello from Provo

Happy Saturday, Knudson Family!

I'm just taking a break from writing my humanities paper and I figured I'd share some highlights of my life in Provo so far this year. It's been a really fun semester. My classes are fun, but challenging. I'd have to say my favorite has been physics...haha..NOT! Alright, to be fair, it hasn't been that bad. My favorite class has definitely been my volleyball class. Every Friday morning from 8-10 I go and play volleyball and then I'm finished for the day. It's been a lot of fun and my team even won the tournament!

My roommates this semester have been amazing. I share a room with Laura. We call her Sasquatch, but that's a long story. Karissa and Jess are in the other room. Laura is from Oregon and Karissa and Jess are from Kansas. We've had a really fun semester baking cookies, building forts, watching movies...good times. Jess and Karissa are moving out, but I'll still have Laura at least for one more semester. Laura just turned 18 this summer so she's just a freshman. We get along really well. She's hilarious and really smart (even when she's NOT reading over my shoulder...) In the picture, Jess is the one on the far end sitting on the fence. Laura is the one with a blanket over her head and Karissa is the one with the red blanket. This is from the night that we drove up Y mountain (no, not all the way) to watch the sunset.

My FHE group this year is great. I think that we have 14 girls in the group and 8 guys. Our regular turn out is 10 girls and 2 guys. It's a good group though. Kenny and Chad are so funny and so are all of the girls. Our activities are usually short and we don't plan big, formal activities. We just go and have a good time. Some of our activites this semester have included: Playing Catch Phrase, a scavenger hunt, making gingerbread houses, duck racing, and making a mockumentary of the duck race. This is a picture of us before our duck race. We raced the ducks in that water by the bell tower next to Heritage Halls. Kenny bought ducks from WalMart and then at FHE we decorated them and raced them. Close up of the ducks:

My duck is the one on the left. It's a Harry Potter duck. He wasn't very fast, though. I think he was 10th out of 11.

Ok, one last picture because I need to get back to work. Definitely one of the highlights of the semester was going to Salt Lake with a few members of my ward and planting flowers. That's right. They let me plant tulips, daffodils, and pansies on Temple Square. So, in the spring if anyone is walking by the Church Office Building, I planted those flowers!! It rained and it was cold and windy. This is a picture of me and Laura.

Thanksgiving and Gingerbread Houses

I thought I would share pictures of our Thanksgiving tradition. We like to do Gingerbread houses after the dinner. These are the three we did this year and a picture of the process.

HA! With Meagan's help I beat the system and made it let me submit posts as myself. If anyone else is wondering, all you have to do is go to settings when you are signed on under the family name and invite yourself as a team member if you have a separate user name. If you don't, then don't worry about it. It was just bothering me. Now i have an identity! YES!

Now, I understand that we have some requests for photos of the best football game of the season! My pictures aren't that great, but they're better than nothing, right? So, here we are:

#1: Our favorite signs. The one below it says, "Why so BLUE, U of U?"

#2: You can see Hall in the middle and 88 has the football. Pass COMPLETE! This is a video I took with my camera: not the best quality, but it works. Payne kicks a 17 yard field goal with less than five minutes in the first half putting the Cougars ahead 3-0!

#3: I just like this one because you can see the Utah player flying in from the right side of the pile. #4: Here they come ready for the second half. #4: I call this one: SACKED!

#5: And the final score: COUGARS WIN!!!

All in all, the game was incredible and so were our seats! Meagan was a non-believer, but we pulled out victorious in the end. I'm so sad that I don't have video or anything from our final drive. With less than 2 minutes, BYU was down 9-10. After a pretty unsuccessful drive, we were on fourth down with 17 yards and Max Hall made an awesome pass to Collie for 49 yards and a second chance. Then Unga punched in a touchdown and caught the pass for 2 extra points. The everyone was going CRAZY! Utah, once again shut down in the final minutes of play. You'd think they'd learn. With BYU, it's not over, 'til it's over!
